While considering the development of characters for a story, I also have to what makes characters interesting. What causes one person to stand out from the other?
Here’s something I’ve discovered.
Main characters aren’t always lovable. They sometimes act in ways that are immoral, unethical, or hypocritical to the person they’ve presented themselves to be.
As gripping stories unfold, the audience discovers some aspect of the main character that must change to achieve the desired outcome!
The character may still be a few scenes from discovering this Truth about themselves but it’s crystal clear to those on the outside looking in.
This led me to begin seeing myself in the seat of the Main Character. (After all, I am the star of My show, right?)
The character my story was written to expose. The idea is to attempt to view my life from the outside looking in. What would I see? Would I discover that it’s me that’s in my way?
That’s a scary thought but it’s something I must consider. After all, I’m still reaching for my own desired outcome.
My primary desire (at this moment) is to live the life of my Dreams. Dreams that have been instilled within like a seed planted in my Soul. A seed seeking to blossom into an abundant life. One in which I am able to support my family with Faith in God, the sweat of my brow and maneuvering of my mind.
I want these entrepreneurial urges to be satisfied with a business that fulfills me spiritually, emotionally, and creatively. I will be a paid writer, a published author, and a requested speaker.
I will also own and operate multiple businesses, sponsoring Art Programs for under-served populations. This is my destiny!
And as I begin to focus my spiritual, mental, and physical energy towards the attainment of this calling, I’m aware that other things may begin coming as well.
Things that seem not to be in opposition with where I am heading, but after careful thought, I’m certain life is better without.
After all, generations of devastation could potentially be hidden behind the tasting of (what appears to be) a harmless and desirable piece of fruit!
I won’t do it!
